Our post provides an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience of working within a busy innovation team, whilst learning and developing project and change management skills.

You will be joining University Hospitals Dorset at an excellent time where we are innovatively reviewing clinical services in addition to hosting and establishing the Dorset ICS Innovation Hub which is one of four UK hubs funded by the Health Foundation. The hub works with Dorset’s 13 partner organisations which include primary, community secondary and social care, academia, innovation, research, economy, industry and with patient and public involvement and engagement.

Reporting to the Head of Innovation, this role is at the heart of the Innovation Team and created to help drive the delivery of our University Hospitals Dorset and Dorset ICS Innovation Hub priority programmes including implementation of:
• MedTech Funding Mandate (MTFM) programme. National must do projects. Implementation of proven innovations into clinical practice. Innovations are already developed, and evidence based (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE)) and require further deployment.
• Nationally supported innovationsthat align with UHD and Dorset ICS priorities, e.g., Rapid Uptake Progress (RUP).
• UHD priority innovation projects.Focus is on proven innovations for adaptation and adoption. Recognised some local priorities may require support with innovation that is part of the discovery and develop phase requiring research and evaluation prior to deployment.
• Doing now and need to spread projects.Proven innovations already in use in UHD or across the Dorset ICS but not widely deployed and that could be spread across UHD.

The innovation team focus primarily on implementation or deployment of proven innovation (spread and adopt) and supports development of inventive innovation. We work seamlessly in a quality continuum which includes clinical governance; clinical audit; National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence; clinical research, NHSI/E, quality improvement. We support clinicians and clinical specialties to undertake their innovation priorities.

Your time with us will be spent working on supporting delivery of the above programme. The knowledge and experience you gain will help you to stand out from the crowd and give you a strong foundation level to progress in a project management career in the future.

In addition to learning about project management, you’ll also have the chance to develop core personal skills such as planning, communication, problem-solving, team-working and networking.
