· Feed all horses during winter months at grass involving the loading and unloading of forage using appropriate machinery.

· Check boundaries, water troughs daily and clean & defrost water troughs daily as required to ensure horses have access to clean water. Ensure the removal of litter from grazing land.

· Responsible for the movement of horses to and from veterinary hospital and forge.

· Catch and restrain horses at grass for veterinary treatments, worming and assisting veterinary technicians for inoculations.

· Issue bedding twice weekly (or when required) to all military stabled horses, and horses in the care of vet hospital.

· Catching horses at grass for farriery attention.

· Sort, Issue and receive of all incoming and outgoing horses to/from DATR care.

· If and when required to assist in the exercising of horses ie lunging and horsewalker.

· Twice weekly of the emptying of muck pit from veterinary hospital.

· Assist with and oversee isolation procedure of newly purchased horses and ensure the mandated isolation period is adhered to.

· Checking of the horses at pasture of the DATR . Ensuring that the health and well being of the all horses are observed at all times. Iillness, injuries are to be reported to the Veterinary Technician or in their absence the Charge Hand/Equine Husbandry Supervisor immediately.

· Assist when required to help restrain difficult horses.

· Care of any overflow of horses when stabled.

· Receive forage as delivered and assist in the movement of forage and preparation of feeds as directed.

· Undertake painting and maintenance of portable equine jumps and obstacles used by the Equitation Staff as required.

· Assist Equitation Staff in the erection of show jumping courses and dressage arenas and movement of portable fences as required.

· Undertake general labouring and area cleaning duties as required.

· Assist in the preparation and delivery of events held at the DATR. .

· To work overtime on a roster basis at weekends and bank holidays as required.

· Any other duties that may be reasonably required


The ability to work outdoors in all weathers, be able to handle large horses.

Hold a full driving licence.
