JOB SUMMARY
You will be introduced to a range of activities all based around warehousing and storage, logistics, light manufacturing and furniture refurbishment. Daily tasks will vary to ensure you receive a full programme of experiences and training can be provided in numerous areas. Tasks will include hand and machine winding laminates, picking and packing different kits to order, assembling goods, warehousing tasks such as preparing goods for dispatch and storing & locating stock, refurbishing furniture including sanding, painting and upholstery. Full training will be provided in the use of hand tools and other machinery. Health and safety procedures must be followed at all times including the maintenance and general upkeep of the working area.

SKILLS NEEDED
No previous skills, experiences or qualifications are required. All training will be provided.
A fork lift licence would be advantageous but not necessary

WORKING HOURS
Monday to Thursday 8am to 5pm Fridays 8am to 12 noon Hours to be worked over 3 days

HOURLY RATE
National Minimum Wage

ADDITIONAL EMPLOYABILITY SUPPORT
Upon induction a mentor will complete an Individual Learning Plan and work with you to establish your individual barriers to employment, how you learn and what you would like to achieve. SMART targets will be set and current levels determined e.g. confidence, communication etc. A mid programme and end of programme review will also take place. Training will all be practical ‘on the job’ training based in our fully operational warehouse. Additional assistance with the creation of a CV, job search techniques and practice interviews will also be conducted. All training will be provided by The Employability Trust in person at Peterlee. A daily work diary will record what you have learned each day and what you have liked and disliked. It will also help to identify areas of additional training/support. Time sheets will monitor attendance and time keeping. Team work and communication skills will be developed through a peer mentor initiative and regular team meetings where full participation is encouraged. Should you be particularly anxious or suffer from social phobia upon joining EDET you will be able to work one-to-one with your mentor in a quieter area of the warehouse until your confidence grows and you feel able to be gradually introduced to the main working area and to begin working in gradually larger groups. All staff will be able to work at their own pace whilst being encouraged to move to the next stage once ready. Individual and team targets will be set.
