JOB SUMMARY
This is an exciting opportunity to learn new skills and gain valuable experience whilst working in a school environment. Ovingham Middle School is a three-form entry middle school which is very much part of the local community set in spacious grounds by the River Tyne. In existence since 1975, we are now proud to be part of the Tyne Community Learning Trust and work very closely with all our partner schools.

The Art and Technology Assistant/Teaching Assistant will support the delivery of Art and Technology classes in a school. They will assist the teaching staff in preparing educational materials and will enhance pupils’ learning experience. They will prepare supplies and resources for Art and Technology classes and will assist teachers in planning and delivering lessons. They will lead small group sessions and will deal with pupils’ queries. They will ensure a high level of cleanliness in the classroom and will maintain the relevant equipment in a tidy condition. They will also provide administrative support as needed.

SKILLS NEEDED
Applicants will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, good organisational skills and passion for art, design and food technology. They will have a good knowledge of Microsoft Office. They will be committed to ensuring the best possible learning outcomes for pupils. The ideal applicants will also have an aptitude for using design software (this is desirable but not essential).

WORKING HOURS
Tues - Friday 8.45am - 3.30pm.

The third module, designed using a credit system, will enable you to select the package of training that best suits your personal needs, interests and ambitions. You will be able to choose from a wide range of resources and means of learning, such as, for example, seminars on public speaking, professional writing, critical thinking or negotiation, and innovative professional tools, such as Diversity Icebreaker and Working Genius.
