JOB SUMMARY
Leicestershire Building Control Partnership is made up of 6 councils, Blaby District Council, Harborough District Council, Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council, Melton Borough Council, Oadby & Wigston Borough Council and Rutland County Council. Building Control regulations are required for new build properties, extensions as well as other building works. The admin team deal with calls, emails and applications and the surveyors go out on site to carry out inspections.

The purpose of the Trainee Building Control Team Assistant role is to provide effective support to the Building Control Team (Admin and Surveyors) and to work closely with and assist the other members of the Building Control Team to ensure that all aspects of the service run smoothly.

The role is based at the Blaby offices and the tasks involved are 1) answering customer calls from across the partnership and either booking in their inspection request or taking a message and emailing it to the relevent people/department 2) scanning and online filing.

SKILLS NEEDED
Basic computer knowledge (outlook, word, excel) is essential.

All training will be carried out by staff within the Building Control Team. Specific training will be given for using the UNIFORM system, dealing with phone calls, booking inspections and dealing with any filing or scanning. Training will be given as required for working as part of a team and dealing with enquiries confidently (even if you don’t know the answer). Corporate training will be given in GDPR and safeguarding.

Monday - Friday 9am - 2pm

ADDITIONAL EMPLOYABILITY SUPPORT
Employability support will be ongoing throughout the placement and the young person will be supported with training opportunities relevant to their placement with employability skills such as CV writing, cover letters, job searching and job applications, interview skills and staying in work.

The successful candidate will receive support throughout their placement including regular 1-2-1 meetings with their line manager, mentoring and also gain valuable experience of working as part of a team and the roles undertaken by other members of the team and department.
