JOB SUMMARY
The role of Food Warehouse Trainee is open to anyone. Whilst formal qualifications are not required, we are looking for you to have a positive outlook, a willingness to learn and work hard. With the growth in ecommerce, warehousing skills are set to become ever more important. We operate 2 shifts. Our day shift works from Monday to Friday 08:00 to 16:30 and our back shift works 16:30 to 23:30. 40 Hours for the day shift and 34 for the back shift.

We produce a wide range of high quality culinary pastes and seasoning blends which are ready for retail sales in supermarkets and online. We also produce many products which are used by our manufacturing customers as ingredients in producing ready meals, soups and meat glazes for example.

You will be trained and gain experience in goods receipt, storage, picking, stock rotation, despatch, and computerised systems which could be invaluable in helping your career progress either within Jardox or elsewhere. To achieve this, you would receive comprehensive on the job training, and you would always be supported by the more experienced colleagues in your team. We would always welcome any suggestions you might have which you feel would improve our processes or methods.

You will work as part of a team within our warehouse. You and your team will be responsible for receiving goods and locating them within the warehouse, order picking and issuing finished goods to our hauliers, issuing ingredients and packaging to our factory. All stock movements are recorded on our computer system.

There will be the opportunity to learn about and gain experience in food safety, basic food hygiene, teamwork skills, performance reporting and workplace health and safety.

Assuming you have progressed satisfactorily, after the 6-month placement there will be the opportunity for you to become a technician or apprentice within Jardox on our permanent staff, or you may wish to use the work experience you have gained to move to another employer.

SKILLS NEEDED
While formal qualifications are not necessary, and we do not expect you to have all the skills when you join us. We are looking for you to have a positive attitude and a willingness to learn together with the ability to work well with the rest of your team

WORKING HOURS
Day shift 08:00 to 16:30 with a half hour unpaid lunch break. Back shift 16:30 to 23:30 with a 30-minute break 20 minutes of which are paid. Both shifts are Monday to Friday.

HOURLY RATE
£9.01/£9.19

Wraparound training support for young people on the Kickstart scheme with the KFE:

Specifically designed in partnership with Kent businesses, the Kickstart wraparound training
programme supports young people to help develop skills to make a positive impact in the
workplace and enhance their future career prospects.

Working with businesses, the Kent Invicta Chamber of Commerce and DWP, the Kent Further Education Colleges, as local training experts, can offer the support Employers and their Kickstart employee need to make the scheme successful.

The programme will give the young person the opportunity to enhance their skills and
employability through both online and hopefully group workshops, during their placement:

1 Initial meeting at the start of employment to assess the young person’s training and support needs
Approx. 1 ½ hours via online meeting platform with the candidate, employer and the College.

Hopes, fears, aspirations and goals
Holistic needs self-assessment, including health and wellbeing
English, maths and ICT skills check
Identification of potential learning and support needs

2 Two-day workshop mid-way through
Potentially delivered face to face and if possible, in small groups.

Careers guidance and action planning

3 Evaluation and feedback at the end of the programme
