Job Title: One to One Special Needs Support Worker

The job will be located at LIFE group, Mellish Sports Centre, Kemmel Road, Bulwell, NG69FH.

General Scope of Role: To support learners with learning difficulties/ and or disabilities in a learning environment in all areas of their learning including the delivery of LIFE’s curriculum.

General duties will include:

Work effectively with colleagues
Assist learners throughout the day with any tasks they may need support with
Assist at meal and break times with any support they may need
Encourage independence wherever possible
Work with other staff to ensure the appropriate curriculum is being implemented and followed
Oversee and ensure the quality of service users work
Support current staff with any lessons that may be ongoing throughout the day

You will be working in a group environment but on a One to One basis with service users that attend on a day to day basis. You will be led by our team of staff, we provide a good mix of community based and in house activities.

We cover a range of activities including independent living skills, money management and budgeting, social skills, community and travel skills, cookery, gardening, arts and crafts, and work experience within an in house community based cafe. You will be required to offer support throughout all of these activities to the individual(s) that you will be working alongside.

At least pass level in basic English and Maths
Health and Social qualification is desirable however not essential

Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) checking should be obtained before the start date of the role, this will be the responsibility of the candidate and not that of the employer.

Skills required include:
good communication skills,
ability to work in a team and as an individual,
good timekeeping skills are essential.

Monday - Friday 10am-3pm

National Minimum Wage

The candidates will be given an initial induction at the start date of their job placements to outline the expectations throughout the duration of the employment. This will highlight the importance of timekeeping and attendance during the employment and will set the expectation of the all members of staff. This will be the same as the induction that all current staff have received at their start date. The candidates will be encouraged to integrate into the current staff team and will be included in any staff meetings that will take place. The candidates will be made aware off the members of management whom they can direct queries and concerns towards and will be encouraged to communicate with all members of the team including fellow Kickstart placements. The placements will receive the basic in house job training package that is given to all new members of staff. The placements will receive support to help build their CV and to include the experience gained whilst in the role.
