JOB SUMMARY
If you have a great work ethic, enjoy outdoor work, and appreciate safe working, then we want you to join our fantastic team and help us fulfil our vision to be the number one in our industry! Trusted and well known within the local port industry, Precision Stevedores is actively recruiting for Stevedores/Port Operatives/Plant Operators to join our expanding workforce. No experience required as full training will be provided. We are proud to invest in our new recruits to ensure you are able to carry out your duties to the high standards we strive for. You will be loading and offloading commercial shipping cargoes using a variety of methods to ensure safe, efficient handling processes. No two days are the same and you can be sure of an interesting and sometimes challenging role with opportunities for progressing and development within precision. Our operatives often progress from basic land duties at the outset to working in the hold of a ship or operating plant and machinery such as forklifts, material handlers, cranes and loading shovels, depending on the products we are handling that day!

SKILLS NEEDED
While it would be great to have worked within the ports industry before it’s not necessary as precision will enable you to acquire the skills to do the job well, along the way. What we do need from you is a good work ethic and not be shy of working outside, sometimes in inclement weather. We start early and rely on our people to be punctual and reliable. Your own transport is an advantage though we do have a company minibus.

WORKING HOURS
0600 starts, 8-12 hour shifts, 5 days per week, Monday to Sunday including some weekends.

ADDITIONAL EMPLOYABILITY SUPPORT
We will support our kickstarters with guidance and mentorship which will allow them to develop useful skills such as time management, prioritisation, effective communication and planning. We teach our people to be productive whether they’re working alone or as part of a team and we work with them to build confidence and a safety first approach to tasks. Our intention is to develop young people into prime candidates for full time permanent employment with precision yet through their training with us we will also furnish them with the skills and attributes they need to compete successfully within the employment market particularly in shipping, port operations and logistics. Our existing management and training team will support our kickstarters daily in their development and provide tuition in all aspects of our operations. We are accredited by IOSH (Institute of Occupational Safety & Health) to deliver health & safety training to our people and commercially to our customers. We are also accredited by ITSSAR (Independent Training Standards Scheme And Register) to provide plant & machinery training to our people and commercially to our customers.
