Sutton in the Elms Ltd

New role providing an introduction to care roles for those that want to work in a care setting. Resident focused roles in the community (residential care / home care / 1:1 support), activities of daily living, person - centred care planning, basic health checks.Role of the MDT / Care team.

Preferable but not essential: Admin experience, good communication skills, organisational skills, proactive approach.

Flexible, some weekend working required. Potential additional hours available.

National Minimum Wage

At PMA we have developed our own 6-month training plan.
Day 1 – PMA induction Welcome and introductions. Meet PMA Tutor. Outline of work experience and training support. Expectations (punctuality, dress code, conduct, etc.), hours, set up Teams and e-learning portfolio.
Day 2 – employer induction Meet colleagues, uniform, expectations (arrival time, conduct, breaks etc.), payroll, uniform, ID, H&S, infection control and Covid (hand washing and PPE).
Week 1 - Dress code, Time keeping, Respect, Interaction with colleagues/positive communication
Week 2 – Learning styles, Communication skills, confidentiality, data protection/GDPR
Week 3 – Work awareness – NHS/Private sector/public sector/third sector. Employer/employee responsibilities. Customer expectations. Where does income come from? Safe working practices, contracts, legislation
Week 4 – Identify job roles and responsibilities. Identify key policies and procedures.
Week 5 – Equality/diversity/inclusion/discrimination (link to Skills for care, Care certificate resources and workbooks)
Week 6 – H&S/risk assessment
Week 7 – Safeguarding and whistle blowing
Week 8 – Duty of care / duty of candour (link to Skills for Care - Care certificate resources and workbooks)
8-week review
Week 9 –Personal development planning. CV development.
Week 10 – Stress awareness, support mechanisms
Week 11 – Dignity, Choice, Capacity, Consent, Active participation, Well-being
Week 12 – Writing skills – use of Microsoft Office, importance of record keeping (clear, accurate and objective)
Week 13 – 6Cs (Care, Compassion, Competence, Confidence, Courage, Commitment)
All learners to start working on Level 2 Excellence in Supporting Healthcare e-learning course.
