Purpose of role: To assist with making sure customers receive excellent quality care and support to keep them safe and comfortable in their own homes.
Key responsibility: Supporting our Supervisors with the efficient running of a designated area and the supervision of care assistants, whilst making sure Bluebird Care provides safe, effective, high quality care that is responsive to each customer’s needs and preferences. Also making sure our services respect customers’ choices and promote their dignity and privacy at all times.
Work well with customers
Assist with an assessment of what the customer needs and what they would like to achieve from their care and support, together with a risk assessment. Support our supervisors with the creation of a written individually tailored plan of care and support that respects the customer’s wishes and promotes their dignity and privacy. Agree appropriate risk control measures to reduce identified risks. Keep care and support plans up to date. Provide the customer and, where appropriate their representatives, with information about the service so they are clear about what to expect and how they can raise any concerns. Keep all information about customers and their families secure and confidential.
Work well with staff
Help to give care assistants appropriate information and guidance to effectively and safely provide care and support as agreed in the care and support plan and work with the Bluebird Care coordinators to appropriately match care assistants to customers. Distribute, collect and monitor MAR charts and assist with training of care assistants
Help to arrange and manage staff changeovers and briefings for live in care assignments in the absence of the lead supervisor and registered manager.
Assist with the investigation of matters relating to the quality of the service and implement improvements as directed, and monitor the performance of care assistants whilst helping carry out quality reviews at the customer’s home to make sure the service is being delivered in line with company procedures. Helping us to apply Bluebird Care policies and procedures at all times and make sure that accidents and incidents are recorded, reported and acted upon.
Help our supervisors to work effectively with customers, their families and representatives, other social and health care professionals and managers and staff from Bluebird Care to deliver high quality homecare services
This list is not exhaustive, and you may be asked to carry out additional duties. We will provide you with full training in line with regulatory requirements.
The essential criteria are that you are calm and helpful around the office, with a flexible and personable manner.
We value honesty with a high level of integrity and we need people to be well organised with good communication skills. We will look for an ability to maintain accurate written and numerical records together with a professional, friendly telephone manner.
It is important that you have good computer/IT skills with the ability and willingness to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
You must have an understanding of what confidentiality means in relation to homecare services and why this is important, whilst following our policies, procedures and instructions.
You will use your own initiative, working alone or as part of a team and maintain focus during times of change and uncertainty We look for high levels of energy and enthusiasm and a willingness to participate in team based meetings and continuous improvement activity with our customers’ central to all our thinking

ADDITIONAL EMPLOYABILITY SUPPORT
Employability support will be offered by our intermediary Gateway. As an FE College Group, Activate Learning are very well placed to provide employability support including supporting the skills development of the participants.
A dedicated work coach/mentor will have regular 1:1s with Kickstart participants and will also enable participants to create a work placement portfolio which will capture their achievements over the 6 months. The portfolio will include: an individual learning plan, diary entries to capture achievements at work, 1:1 mentoring sessions, and updated CV and cover letter and certificates from completed courses.
Activate Learning have recommended the following suite of courses for participants: Award in Employment, IT Skills, Customer Service, Resilience and Grit, Mental Health Awareness and Working in a Team. The total length of these combined courses is 16 days, and most participants will be accessing them remotely. We have a Digital Trainer working on Kickstart who will help support participants with additional needs with their online training which could include supporting participants in smaller groups to aid their learning.
The goal for all participants is that they obtain full time employment at the end of their placement, either with their Kickstart employer or with a new employer. For those participants that need further support at the end of their placement, work coaches will be able to continue to work with them for up to one-month to ensure they are able to access long term employment.
