JOB SUMMARY
This is an exciting opportunity to learn new skills and gain valuable experience whilst working in a school environment. We are a Church School with strong links to St Oswald’s church and the local community. We promote a family friendly atmosphere, where everyone is encouraged to care for each other. The SEND Teaching Assistant will help the teaching staff of the school to enhance the learning experience of pupils with SEND. They will help ensuring that pupils with SEND are able to access education of the highest standard and that no child is left behind. They will collaborate with the teaching staff to identify and respond quickly to the specific needs of pupils with SEND. They will contribute to monitoring and recording the progress of pupils with SEND. They will maintain classroom resources fit for purpose. They will help promote and reinforce the self-esteem of pupils with SEND and will contribute to creating a supportive learning environment for them. They will help liaise with parents of pupils with SEND and will provide administrative support as needed.

SKILLS NEEDED
Applicants will have good written and verbal communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills, including calmness, patience, empathy, and compassion. They will have knowledge of IT systems such as Microsoft or Google. They will be committed to raising the learning outcomes of pupils with SEND. They will have an interest in pursuing a career as a teacher. The ideal applicants will also have experience in working within an educational setting with pupils with SEND (this is desirable not essential).

Monday to Friday (9am- 3pm)

As part of this position, you will have access to an employability training offer which will provide a robust and high-quality programme boosting your work and employability skills. This will be provided by Premier Advisory Group (PAG).

PAG’s offer is designed in three complementary modules, which will empower you with the appropriate skills to enter the job market with more confidence. Our employability training offer consists of three core modules: Readiness to Work, Introducing Employability Skills and Developing Employability Skills.

The first two modules, which include sessions on CV writing, interview and job search support and an ICT refresher course, will equip you with the basis for improved employability across any role in any sector. The third module, designed using a credit system, will enable you to select the package of training that best suits your personal needs, interests and ambitions. You will be able to choose from a wide range of resources and means of learning, such as, for example, seminars on public speaking, professional writing, critical thinking or negotiation, and innovative professional tools, such as Diversity Icebreaker and Working Genius.
