This is an exciting opportunity to learn new skills and gain valuable experience whilst working in a school environment. We are a Church School with strong links to St Oswald’s church and the local community. We promote a family friendly atmosphere, where everyone is encouraged to care for each other. The EYFS Teaching Assistant will contribute to the organisation and delivery of learning activities in the EYFS classrooms. They will help teachers prepare educational materials, plan and deliver classes and enhance pupils’ learning experience across all areas of the curriculum. They will provide assistance to pupils who need extra help and will support the teachers and practitioners by record the progress pupils are making. They will support teachers and teaching assistants in assessing pupils’ homework, will help ensure that classroom equipment is fit for purpose, and will maintain a clean and tidy classroom environment. They will also provide administrative support as needed.

Applicants will have good written and verbal communication skills and good interpersonal skills. They will have a strong interest in primary education, particularly at the EYFS stage. They will be able to engage with teaching staff and pupils and will be committed to raising pupils’ achievement. They will have an interest in pursuing a career as a teacher or nursery practitioner. The ideal applicants will also have previous experience in working with pupils within a school setting (this is desirable, not essential).

As part of this position, you will have access to an employability training offer which will provide a robust and high-quality programme boosting your work and employability skills. This will be provided by Premier Advisory Group (PAG).

PAG’s offer is designed in three complementary modules, which will empower you with the appropriate skills to enter the job market with more confidence. Our employability training offer consists of three core modules: Readiness to Work, Introducing Employability Skills and Developing Employability Skills.

The first two modules, which include sessions on CV writing, interview and job search support and an ICT refresher course, will equip you with the basis for improved employability across any role in any sector. The third module, designed using a credit system, will enable you to select the package of training that best suits your personal needs, interests and ambitions. You will be able to choose from a wide range of resources and means of learning, such as, for example, seminars on public speaking, professional writing, critical thinking or negotiation, and innovative professional tools, such as Diversity Icebreaker and Working Genius.
