JOB SUMMARY
Providing care and assistance to clients with a disability particularly in our Special Need Activity and Play (SNAP) service

To assist in running of all childrens and adults services, particularly play schemes, in accordance with St Albans Mencaps aims, objectives, policies and procedures.

Principal Accountabilities:

To organise, develop and maintain effective children and adults services in accordance with the Hertfordshire County Council and other contracts, providing a safe and enjoyable experience for the service users, and helping to oversee the day-to-day running.

To have a variety of effective communication methods with parents/carers and staff when organising allocation days of when children or adults may attend.

Jointly manage the updating of relevant information on the website and social media.

To jointly organise and arrange play, leisure and social activities for the service users, in partnership with the Play and Group Leaders.

To help consult with the parents/carers, service users and staff attending the schemes, ensuring their needs and wishes are met.

To assist in the management of the sign up of all new service users, whilst maintaining and ensuring the constant update of all database and personnel files on all of the existing service users.

SKILLS NEEDED
No qualifications required as on the job training plus for suitable candidates day release for college training.
Must have strong empathy with children and if possible disabled.
Driving licence preferable

WORKING HOURS
No shifts. Broadly 9 to 5 pm daily but will include Saturdays.

HOURLY RATE
National Minimum Wage

ADDITIONAL EMPLOYABILITY SUPPORT
Successful candidate will have staff mentor and work within a team. Day release for a suitable college course will be offered to appropriate candidates following settling in period. Health, first aid, handling. Learning disability awareness. Lifting and personal care training modules available to all staff.

In addition to our in-house training and support, our Kickstart Gateway (Communities 1st) will deliver a bespoke programme of employability training and support to each employee recruited via the Kickstart scheme.

You will cover the following modules in the order below, 1 per month during your 6-month job placement. Each module will be delivered as a 2-hour live session via Zoom:
Timekeeping & Personal Organisation skills
Self-Motivation and Resilience
CV Writing and Writing a Job Application
Interview Preparation
Interview Skills - On the Day
Job Search Skills

There will also be two employee forums during your job placement where you can share your experiences with other Kickstarters, share success stories, discuss challenges and gain advice from our Gateways employment experts.

You will also be invited to attend two forums after the end of the placement, to feedback on how job searches are going, share experiences since finishing the placement and receive support and advice as necessary.
