JOB SUMMARY
The Lisa Lashes School of Music (LLSOM) have a unique and brand-new opportunity for young people with the aspiration to work in the music events industry. The LLSOM has an excellent team of expert tutors who play/have played an active role in successful events. As the sector has been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic, club owners and event organisers are seeking to recover quickly to get back on track to produce amazing new experiences for music lovers across the UK. Additionally, during this journey, the young person will be supporting Coventry, the city of culture and its nightlife. This role comes at an exciting time for young people who want to dive into the world of events with all its new challenges and fantastic opportunities.

We would like to hear from young people no matter their level of experience, who want to expand on their knowledge in organising events, demonstrate their passion to succeed, develop themselves and develop their employability skills.

The event assistant will work closely and collectively with other young employees, team leaders, LLSOM management staff and the management of the venues.

There will be general administration tasks to complete, however the role could also include tasks such as:
Communicating with vendors, clients, and colleagues.
Assisting in the creation of an action plan for promoting the event.
Planning and/or producing promotional content using graphic design or presentation software.
Assisting in the creation and/or review of legislative documents.
Working with IT systems/databases/spreadsheets for organisational and financial purposes.
Assisting management in day-to-day tasks which ensure the organisation of the event is efficient.

The LLSOM will ensure that employees have the tools necessary to develop for the duration of their placement. Additionally, we will offer extra support which is tailored to the individual employee where possible. For instance, we can offer extra support regarding employability, communication skills and mentorship training.

WORKING HOURS
Working placement - 2 x days at 8 hours, Online learning - 9 hours, Team meetings are set 2 weeks in advance with notice given.

ADDITIONAL EMPLOYABILITY SUPPORT
Training will enable our employees to access the support they need to excel in their placement with both virtual and face to face delivery. This support will enable the young people to expand on their knowledge and experience of the event industry, as well as broader topics to improve on their individual soft skills.

For the duration of their training, the LLSOM will provide opportunities to learn about a wide range of areas within the sector of events. For example, the young person will explore key skills in finance, graphic design, promotion, and others. The young person will be required to complete daily administration tasks including communication with clients/vendors, utilising ICT alongside word processing, presentation, spreadsheet, and graphic design software technology in a variety of capacities. All employees will be able to join weekly online meetings to gain experience of collaboration in a team and working with their colleagues on company tasks.

Moreover, the Inspirational Learning Group (TILG) will deliver online sessions regarding employability plans, employability skills, and soft skills on a weekly basis. These sessions include engaging video content and downloadable resources which can be accessed at any time by the employee.
Some topics include goal setting, customer service and basic health and safety. These sessions will also enable the young person to work on their soft skills, such as writing CVs, learning interview skills, and building social media footprints. Employers will be on hand to give helpful hints and tips in relation to their role. They will have the opportunity to join an online portal with chat functionality for learners to ask any questions regarding their placement.
