ADDITIONAL EMPLOYABILITY SUPPORT
The placement will be support for employability by East Riding of Yorkshire Council. The support offered will be based on an existing training provision currently offered to young people through our Externally Funded Team, who have a wealth of experience and expertise in working with local employers to help young people find work. The team will provide employability and 1:1 support programmes delivering work-related learning and training for young people and include: employability workshops to deliver skills; help with personal appearance and budgeting; communication and team building activities; self-esteem and confidence building programmes; health and well-being sessions, resilience and mental toughness training and access to work placements, work experience and volunteering opportunities.
The Council will devise a training log to be completed by the participant to capture evidence to support this essential component of the scheme. The training log will provide details of the type of training, date completed, the duration, the key employability skills acquired and how these will be applied in the workplace.
In addition to the training log, all participating employers will be asked to complete an interim evaluation form at the end of month 3 to record and appraise their experiences of the scheme to date, providing an opportunity for the Council to offer employers further support if required. At the end of the placement, participants complete a final evaluation of the scheme to aid continuous improvement and learning.
The support will be delivered throughout the 6 month placement and the Council will document the training as detailed above.
It was noted in our most recent Ofsted inspection report (June 2019) that this is a unique and valuable service that our clients greatly benefit from, which means that we are well placed to deliver this essential training and support on behalf of employers in the Kickstart scheme.
