JOB SUMMARY
This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team of PE specialists.

The position would suit an enthusiastic person with a passion for working with children: looking to gain vital experience to move into Primary School Teaching or Sports Coaching. Sporting Influence is a PE teaching specialist in its tenth year of trading, working mainly in the Harrogate, Craven, York and Leeds area. We specialise in improving the standards of PE provision at Primary School level and creating innovative programmes using sport to engage pupils in cross curricular work. We have a strong ethos of Improving Social Skills through sport in everything we do.

Term time responsibilities:
During term time the role will involve supporting a teacher of PE in the delivery of sports across the full primary age group (age 4-12). This will include setting up equipment, coaching children as well as upskilling class teachers.
Additionally, the candidate will help to support and deliver a range of sporting afterschool clubs, this may include football, cricket, rounders, athletics and multi-sports.
Candidates will also support and co-deliver additional programmes such as our Well-being programme and Sports Numeracy (Developing numeracy through sport)

Out of Term time responsibilities:
During the school holidays candidates will support and help deliver sports activities at our holiday childcare sports camps. Duties will include, leading sports sessions, communicating with other staff and parents, supporting children, supervising children during lunch and breaks and organising equipment.

Admin responsibilities:
Out of school hours and during admin time candidates will help to build on the businesses bank of teacher resources and lesson plans. Therefore, it would be essential for the candidate to be competent in the Microsoft suit as well as be comfortable using online programmes (training will be made available as part of the role)

Marketing responsibilities:
Marketing plays a significant role in the business and there will be opportunities to work with our business development and social media team. Duties will include supporting the social media profiles, (for example, twitter, Instagram etc) siding in marketing strategy, populating newsletters, creating Canva Lesson Plans for SI teaching booklet, creating graphics for online marketing, publishing social media marketing, inputting, and following the social media calendar, exporting and analysing data from surveys

Staff training:
Staff training will be made available, and the candidate will be working alongside outstanding teachers as mentors.

SKILLS NEEDED
Must be familiar with the Microsoft suite (word, excel etc)

Full training for the role will be provided.

The role will take place both in term time, teaching pupils sports and social skills; after school in sports clubs; and over the holidays at the childcare sports camp; a full drivers licence would be desirable due to the nature of the role, however, it is not an essential requirement

WORKING HOURS
Between 8:30am-4:30pm. Monday-Friday.

HOURLY RATE
National Minimum wage

ADDITIONAL EMPLOYABILITY SUPPORT
Candidates will be mentored throughout the six month kickstart placement.

Training will be provided by Sporting Influence around teaching, safeguarding, first aid, and teacher resource development (for example lesson planning).

We will be offering comprehensive employability support utilising specialist partners. The Kickstarter will be assigned a careers coach to work with them before, during and after the placement and to act as a mentor or coach. We will be offering all the required training that Kickstarter’s must undertake including but not limited to: time-keeping, attendance, teamwork, communication, remote working, confidence and assertiveness in the workplace. The specific employability courses that will be co-ordinated by their careers coach are: job searching, CV writing, interview techniques, setting career goals, developing transferable skills.

We are also encouraging Kickstarter’s to undertake:
Further online or virtual training courses on transferable skills,
Free accredited courses,
Enrichment activities on taking on big challenges, goal-setting, resilience, attitude, growth mind-set, determination, persistence, mental toughness, preparation,
Activities will include talks, guidance, webinars from sports stars, prominent speakers, authors and psychologists.

We hope the Kickstarter’s will move to a permanent role at the end of the placement. If they do not, they will have been equipped with improved skills, experience and confidence when returning to the jobs market.

Kickstarter’s will collate this onto a CV and LinkedIn profile in a portfolio format so that they can evidence the new skills, experiences, qualifications and training that they have been given.

They will also be presented with a Kickstart certificate from us to reward them for their successful participation in all the mandatory and voluntary training at completion of their six months.
