JOB SUMMARY
To work alongside the team of designers working on both residential and commercial interior design projects. The role will be based from our showrooms and will involve interacting with our customers and suppliers both in person and on the telephone.

On a daily basis there will be a responsibility to keep the showroom clean, tidy and well merchandised and to deal with any customers wanting to buy the products on display. As new stock comes into the showroom it will need to be unboxed, checked and put out on display, which will develop merchandising skills. Similarly, it will be necessary to keep the pattern library well organised and up to date which will develop a good working knowledge of the vast range of fabric and wallpapers available.

Working alongside the designers it will be necessary to help them with pulling together schemes, ordering samples, generating estimates and specifications all of which will develop the ability to work independently as an interior designer on their own projects.

There will also be a requirement to help with general admin duties such as order processing, speaking to suppliers, collating orders etc.

This role will provide and excellent all round introduction to the world of high end interiors.

The day to day mentor for this role will be one of the designers which will be decided on when the main location is finalised on depending on where the job holder lives and what is most convenient for them.

Time will be set aside on a weekly basis for a formal review with Eleanor Goddard Director to ensure that the job holder is progressing well with the tasks set and is receiving the support needed from both their mentor and the wider team.

The job holder will be included in all of the interior design and front of house activities in the showroom on a daily basis. Informal training and insights into each activity will be provided on an ongoing basis.

Training is often provided by our suppliers, both in-house, online and occasionally as away days and there will be the opportunity to participate in this alongside all other members of the design team.

There will also be the opportunity to spend some time at installations with our installations manager to understand the practical side of interior design.

Help will be given to set up a LinkedIn profile and informal training given on how to use the platform to build a personal brand and to find job opportunities. Help will also be given towards the end of the placement if required, write a good CV and to have a job search strategy.

Skills required

An interest in design is essential. Basic IT skills and a good level of numeracy. Confidence in dealing with high end clients will also be required.
