We are a forward thinking, busy and friendly General Practice based in Guildford, looking to recruit an enthusiastic Apprentice to join our friendly team.

Every GP Practice needs an efficient team of administrators /receptionists to work alongside the clinical team to ensure that every patients experience is a positive one. This is an exciting opportunity to start your career in the Health Care Sector as an Apprentice Business Administrator where you can develop yourself further into a secretarial, receptionist or administrative role within the NHS.
As an Apprentice in our practice, you will be the first point of contact for our patients therefore, excellent communication (interpersonal) skills are vital as well as the ability to demonstrate patience, empathy, and problem-solving skills, when dealing with difficult situations. The surgery is a very busy environment where you will need to deal with people who are ill, worried, and sometimes upset and confused. You always need to be able to remain calm and behave in a professional manner.
A good level of literacy and keyboard skills are required along with the ability to work well as part of a busy team.

Job Responsibilities Administration:
• To provide support to the Practice Manager /Assistant Practice Manager and administration team / including tasks such as:
o Scan and file correspondence
o Shred confidential correspondence in accordance with practice protocol
o Use clinical system to identify patients requiring annual checks, and send invitations
o Answer telephone calls - deal with the query or pass on to the appropriate person

Job Responsibilities Reception:
• To provide patients with an efficient and effective telephone-based reception service which includes:
o Making patient appointments
o Giving routine test results
o Taking home visit requests
o Passing emergency calls to duty doctor
o General enquiries
o Resolving issues
o Prescription queries
• To complete all associated administration in an accurate and timely manner
• To provide outstanding customer care always, both internally and externally
• To have a thorough knowledge of all Practice procedures.
• To work in accordance with written protocols.

Duties may be varied from time to time under the direction of the Assistant Practice Manager, dependent on current and evolving practice workload.

37.5 hours per week

You will have on the job training within the organisation and have an assigned Assessor who will provide you with additional training sessions and assessments to gain the Level 3 Business Administrator Qualification.

Duration of Course: 18 months + 3 months (for end point assessment) = 21 months, this could take longer dependent on the learn and the End Point Assessment date. The training provider will endeavour to plan for the apprentice to complete the apprenticeship within this timeframe.
