An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new Ward Manager in the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) based at The Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital within Cramlington.

SCBU is a level one neonatal unit comprising of twelve cots and supporting a busy and high-risk obstetric Maternity Unit. We have facilities to provide some high dependency care and stabilise infants requiring intensive care, prior to transfer.

SCBU has an established innovative staffing model with Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (ANNP) working on site 24 hours a day.

We are looking to recruit a senior experienced nurse or midwife, with a track record of leading & developing clinical teams, who is highly motivated, enthusiastic, committed and passionate about providing exceptional standards of care to join our dynamic clinical teams at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

The Ward Manager role will comprise of being responsible and accountable for the day to day management of SCBU, demonstrating excellent leadership skills and an enthusiasm for both staff and service development.

The post holder will be required to demonstrate professional attributes, including, diversity, dealing with change, and be able to work autonomously and effectively within the multidisciplinary team.

We are for looking for an individual that is a dynamic, highly motivated and passionate nurse or midwife committed to high quality patient care.

The post holder must have a flexible approach, have knowledge to support in the delivery of high standards of nursing care for neonatal patients and will be able to demonstrate excellent clinical leadership and communication skills across the multi-disciplinary team.

We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, covering one of the largest geographical areas of any NHS trust in the country.
