St Martin’s CE Primary School prides itself on being a warm and friendly school that welcomes visitors and actively encourages a partnership with parents.

The EYFS Assistant will support the delivery of physical and emotional care for children in an Early Years setting. They will collaborate with EYFS staff to help them create a welcoming and inclusive learning environment, in which children can develop social skills and thrive.

They will support EYFS practitioners to take care of children’s physical and emotional needs. They will assist the supervision of children at meals and snack time, help plan activities for them and report any accidents that may occur. They will help in the preparation of resources for play and activities in a reception class. They will also provide administrative support as needed.

Applicants will work effectively as part of a team, have good communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with children. They will be committed to promoting the physical and emotional wellbeing of children and will have an awareness of Health and Safety policies and procedures. They will have a passion for working in the Early Years sector and an interest in the education sector. The ideal applicants will also have some knowledge of safeguarding and professional experience in the early years sector or a related area.

Monday - Friday 8:30am - 1:30pm some flexibility may be agreed and discussed with individuals


As part of this position, you will have access to an employability training offer which will provide a robust and high-quality programme boosting your work and employability skills. This will be provided by Premier Advisory Group (PAG).

PAG’s offer is designed in three complementary modules, which will empower you with the appropriate skills to enter the job market with more confidence. Our employability training offer consists of three core modules: Readiness to Work, Introducing Employability Skills and Developing Employability Skills.

The first two modules, which include sessions on CV writing, interview and job search support and an ICT refresher course, will equip you with the basis for improved employability across any role in any sector. The third module will enable you to further develop key employability skills, such as professional writing, critical thinking and communication skills. You will also be encouraged to start planning the future steps of your career.

In addition to this, you will be mentored by an experienced member of staff and will work within a staff team. This will be overseen by a member of the school leadership team. Discussions will enable skill set and training needs to be identified and tasks prioritised.
