JOB SUMMARY
Your role would sit within the Employment, Skills & Lifelong Learning team and would provide a great opportunity to work alongside colleagues from the Careers team, Libraries, as well as those of us working on a range of employment programmes such as Apprenticeships.

You would get involved in a wide range of areas such as: helping to provide Facebook content for ‘Swindon Stories’, sorting material for schools and supporting literacy campaigns; supporting with different Youth Projects (such as the Prime Theatre Project) by attending meetings, assisting in the development of our website, helping to organise careers events for young people; providing support to our clients and associated administration such as completion of paperwork and responding to queries; and pulling data together such as apprenticeship starts and job postings into reports and presentations. You would gain a fantastic insight into the workings of a Local Authority, discover more about the employment and skills landscape in Swindon, and gain skills in IT, project coordination, and management of meetings as well as contributing to web development and promotion.

The role will be mainly working remotely, but there is the opportunity to go into the office on an ad hoc basis, (covid permitting), which is situated near the Civic Offices in the centre of Swindon.

SKILLS NEEDED
We are looking for someone with great interpersonal skills, who is adaptable to new tasks, and has a ‘can do’ attitude. You must be reliable, prepared to learn new skills and processes, be able to work both on your own and within a team and demonstrate initiative.

WORKING HOURS
Working hours will be between 9-5, and we are very flexible as to whether this is 5 hrs per day over 5 days, or more hrs over fewer days.

National Minimum Wage

ADDITIONAL EMPLOYABILITY SUPPORT
We will create a training-support place for each placement covering all of the above and we intend to run a workshops for all 5 placements to come together at the end of the first 5 months to share what they have learn, reflect on the last 5 months, and work together to develop a career pathway, create a new cv, how to job search and provide references.

The support will come from the service area manager, their mentor, the Learning and Organisational Development team and team members from the service area they will work in

The L&OD team will work alongside the service areas that have the placements to support each person on placement, to provide training, performance and behavioural growth, with the aim of giving each person the best opportunity in their next step in their career
