JOB SUMMARY
Carbon ThreeSixty are seeking a Design Engineer (Placement Trainee) to join our expert engineering team and to contribute to the process of designing, developing, manufacturing and testing world-class lightweight carbon composite structures in fields as diverse as defence, aerospace, automotive and oil & gas.

The role will support the business as we continue development and delivery of a portfolio of new composite products and manufacturing processes, and will contribute to fulfilling a growing customer demand for innovative, technically advanced components.

Working closely with a team of highly experience engineers and technicians in a cutting edge facility, the successful candidate will assist the senior management team in specifying and commissioning new manufacturing facilities, undertaking prototype and low-volume manufacture, in addition to product and process development and evaluation.

It’s critical that the successful candidate be adept at engaging with senior managers, colleagues, and customers to ensure customer expectations are met, capable of communicating technical information in a clear and compelling manner, and undertaking activities that support the wider business growth objectives of Carbon ThreeSixty Ltd.

The successful candidate will benefit greatly from the experience of working in a small, agile, fast growing advanced materials design engineering and manufacturing SME.

Home-working is possible, but not preferrable, for this role as it will involve a significant amount of factory-based work-shadowing, on-the-job skills development, mentoring from colleagues and most importantly “hands-on” technical activities.

SKILLS NEEDED
Ideally, you’ll have an appreciation of science, technology and manufacturing, but it’s not essential. Perhaps you completed an undergraduate degree in the science, maths, engineering or technology fields and are seeking an opportunity to put the learning to use.

You much be a good communicator and mechanically-minded, with evidence of, and interest in, materials and or high-value manufacturing.

You’ll do well in this role if you have a keen eye for detail, high standards, are well organised and enjoy variety.
