Company Description:
We are the first UK grown UK organic certified medicinal mushroom company. We grow over 19 different species of Mushrooms. We supply edible mushrooms to a number of michelin star restaurants and wholefood outlets. We are currently cropping 1.5 tonnes of mushrooms a month. We are at an exciting period of growth and are looking for people to grow personally alongside the company as it expands.

Job Description/Duties:
We are looking for someone to assist our team in the preparation of substrate, sterile work in the laboratory and in the picking and packing and potentially delivery of mushrooms to our clients.

It is a pretty varied and interesting role where you will learn all the steps involved with taking a wild clone through to commercial production.

The training will be on-going and you will be led by Henry our technical lead. You will learn the different stages of mushroom cultivation from mycelia through to fruiting bodies. You will learn how to optimise the growing conditions and select genetics that are likely to be of value in the fruiting bodies.

You will also receive training on how to extract the bio-active compounds from the mushrooms through various different extraction methods.

We have weekly foraging trips to source new genetics from wild species and a weekly meal/music evening down at the farm. Bonus will be payable based on agreed performance criteria. You will also get 4kgs a week of high quality edible mushrooms!

Applicant Skills:
• Ideally you should have an interest in fungi.
• It is quite a physical job at times so you should be willing to get involved and have a strong work ethic.
• What is of more importance is however your attitude we can train you to learn a lot of the skills needed.

Monday - Friday, 5hrs per day

Our training will teach them key areas around the role, such as learning how to identify the different stages of mycelial growth, keeping the grow rooms clean, conducting tours for clients, how to be structure your day, key communication and presentations skills and in general lots more transferable skills around this role.

We’ve given training to over 15 people who have worked in varied capacities down the farm, and have 11 years of experience and are well positioned to train Kickstarter here at The Bristol Fungarium. We already have a training process in place for new starters and we can use our expertise to dig deeper into this if needed for this Kickstarter.

We're also working alongside recruitment partners such as SBV Recruitment Ltd, who partner with major hirers of young talent such as. EY, PwC & over 250+ other companies UK wide. They will help guide the young talent with CV preparation, interview prep & finding a future role, by using their expertise and network of employers, if necessary if the candidate does not stay with us as we hope they will do. This will really help with any wrap-around support needed. Our partners, alongside our own support, will also offer 90 minute 1:1s. This will take place alongside our own comprehensive support.
