Responsibilities include: -
• To take charge of the service in the absence of the Clinical Lead and Senior Nurse Practitioner to ensure its smooth running and that standards of care are maintained
• To assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes with service users, and to ensure that support is provided in accordance with individual plans for the people we support
• To establish and maintain good relationships between the people we support, relatives and staff
• To ensure the delivery of an individualised treatment plan for the people we support
• To deliver on medication management as per the company Policies and Procedures for Medicine Management, NMC and The Care Quality Commission
• An interest in mental health rehabilitation and promoting independence would help, however, skills can be transferred across from other professional training.
• You may be involved in clinical reviews with our Responsible Clinician and liaise with GPs, MDTS and families. A full Supervision/Appraisal approach will be available. Daily support and guidance is available from peers and supervisors.
Required Skills and Experience
- You will need to hold a current Registered Nurse, Mental Health qualification and ideally have experience of working with service users along a pathway to promote their independence and manage their own mental health.
- Candidates must have a valid NMC Pin Number
- Knowledge of the MHA (1983) would be an advantage. However, updated training will be given.
- Work to a shift pattern over 7 days, including rotated night shifts.
- Be able to delegate duties and lead a team of Support Workers on shift.
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills and utilise Person Centred Approach at all times.
- Be able to work within a team and be able to use initiative and best practice
Salary and Benefits

As well as working within a great team and a great culture, you can expect to earn a competitive salary ranging from £13.80 - £17.11 per hour dependent upon experience as well as an annual holiday allowance of 33 days inclusive of bank holidays.
Salary based on post qualification experience, pro rata depending on actual working hours -
£13.80 per hour – Till end of preceptorship
£14.90 per hour – Up to 2 years post preceptorship
£17.11 per hour – 2 years or more post qualification experience

Oak Lodge Treatment and Recovery Centre in Little Lever, Bolton, is a specialist 12 bedded Mental Health Rehabilitation Centre which has recently been recognised by CQC as an OUTSTANDING service. Oak Lodge specialises in the rehabilitation of people with enduring mental health conditions such as schizophrenia and personality disorders to develop the skills to reintegrate successfully back into their communities with the support of a strong MDT.
Oak Lodge is looking for a Mental Health Nurse with the same high standards and forward-thinking skills to join their award-winning team and develop their clinical skills by using evidence-based practice as a standard delivery model.

Day in the life of an RMN at Oak Lodge
There is always a handover in the morning which forms that plan for the day. Everyone attends including the people we support and all the staff to enable joint working. We routinely do exercises to bring positive energy to the day. Everyone splits off then to do medication, paperwork, or group activities.
Groups will be run by either the Occupational Therapist or nurses and exercises vary from therapeutic, medication safety to recognising emotions. The philosophy is that everyone participates and shares, including the staff enabling an All Together Grow Together approach.
The nurses may then go out into the community for sessions with the people that we support, and these vary widely from pub to park as some people don’t engage in clinical settings as much.
All nurses are encouraged to take further training and do courses in therapeutic skills or psychosocial intervention skills. It’s not them and us at Oak Lodge which is one of the main contributory factors to receiving an Outstanding rating by CQC. We all work together to overcome problems both staff and SU, everyone treated as one and input is valued.
Every 6 weeks there is a case presentation with Senior Nurse Practitioner, support workers, nurses and the person being supporting where we look at what are the goals, what is the ongoing plan, and review.
It is a really nice place to work, with a small team so everyone works together closely.
This role is Band II, as per the AFG banding structure.
It is expected that you will work most of your shifts at Oak Lodge, however you may be required to work at alternative services across Greater Manchester therefore all contracts state Greater Manchester as location.
