HMP Stocken is based in the beautiful county of Rutland near to Rutland Water. By car it is approximately 20 minutes from Grantham, 30 minutes from Peterborough and Corby and less than an hour from Leicester and Nottingham.

As a Pharmacy Technician, you’ll be an integral part of the healthcare team by bringing your clinical skills and passion for care.
You’ll receive an annual salary up to £27,000 per annum FTE depending on experience; cycle to work scheme, uniform, training, development and employee recognition scheme. What will you be doing?
As a Pharmacy Technician at HMP Stocken, you will assist in the delivery of a high quality pharmacy service to the prison population.
You can expect to provide medicines management services to assist in tackling identified, inequalities within the prison population contributing to diagnosis of care and treatment needs. This includes providing pharmacy related information to patients, prison officers and other healthcare professionals ensuring that the level of advice given is appropriate to overcome barriers to understanding, conveying complex and sensitive information in an easily understandable form.
The Pharmacy Technician will also assist with the implementation and development of pharmacy support to all wings in the prison which includes, where appropriate, counselling of patients on the correct use of medication.
It goes without saying that you will be responsible for dispensing medicines
to agreed standards, calculating doses and quantities for supply where there is a specific requirement for accuracy e.g. Methadone preparation.

This is a full time role working 37.5 hour per week. We also welcome part-time and bank applications.
HMP Stocken is a category C closed training prison, with a capacity of 1069 men. Practice Plus Group provides a dedicated healthcare service specialising in supporting patients with complex medical requirements, mental health issues and primary care needs.
Healthcare is provided seven days a week, throughout the year. Services include first and second reception screening for new arrivals, triage and phlebotomy and vaccination clinics. Long term condition clinics are a core clinical activity. The role is varied, involving assessing and treating patients and carrying out effective care in an ever changing environment; responding to both their physical and mental well-being needs.
Our team includes GP’s, Clinical Leads, Nurses and HCA’s; emergency care is supported by our paramedic and all our clinical staff are trained to deliver intermediate life support (ILS). Pharmacy is managed by our pharmacist and supported by technicians and assistants.
