Band 6 Cardiac MRI Radiographer

The Cardiac MRI unit based at the Leeds General Infirmary performs over 3000 examinations a year at its state of the art facility. The unit is a leading centre of Cardiac MRI excellence in the United Kingdom and it is at the forefront of the modality throughout the world through its high impact research publications, clinical scanning and educational training.

Currently the Cardiac MRI unit is seeking a highly motivated Cardiac MRI Radiographer to join its expanding multi-disciplinary team consisting of a dedicated team of 4 Cardiac MRI Consultants, 8 Cardiac MRI Research Spr’s, 4 Cardiac MRI Radiographers, 6 Cardiac MRI Research nurses and 2 Cardiac MRI assistants.

Working alongside specialized Cardiac MRI Radiographers the successful applicant will become an integral part of the team in providing Clinical services within the normal working week, during extended hours and week-end sessions. The department currently operates 8-8 Monday to Friday, 8-5 Saturday and Sunday.

Cardiology NHS work accounts for over 50% of overall Cardiac MRI scanning time and involves tertiary referrals for neonates, pediatrics and adults throughout the Yorkshire region. Dedicated, state of the art cardiac imaging is provided on a wide bore Philips 1.5T Ingenia and 3T Achieva D-stream system whilst other sessions are performed on a Siemens 1.5T Advanto. The combination of scanners and departmental layout provides the perfect balance and platform for high throughput Cardiac MRI lists.

The Cardiac MRI unit is part of the University of Leeds CMR Clinical Research Group and whilst primarily funded by the Leeds University through multi-million pound research grants there is close collaboration with the Cardiology NHS Department to establish further roles in the clinical setting.

The Cardiac MRI unit performs all types of Cardiac MRI including ischemic, non-ischemic, hemochromatosis, and congenital diseases.

Whilst experience in Cardiac MRI would be beneficial to post, the successful applicant will receive the relevant training on Philips and Siemens scanners to ensure they are highly proficient in all aspects of Cardiac MRI.
