Due to the expansion of our service we are currently looking to recruit into our band 5 Registered Nursing team for our Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC/AECU) service.
We are looking for enthusiastic, highly motivated Adult Registered Nurses to work within our fast developing unit which provides same day emergency care (SDEC) to patients who might otherwise be admitted into hospital.
Ambulatory Emergency Care or Same Day Emergency Care is a relatively new care model, it recognises that there is a large cohort of emergency patients who can safely be treated on the same day. Therefore reducing hospital admissions and improving patient experience.
We are an innovative and dynamic unit that works very closely with the Emergency Department and other areas of the Urgent and Emergency Care Division to provide patients with a new and progressive service.
This exciting opportunity is available to qualified RNs looking to enter the challenging yet rewarding world of Emergency Care.
Our nursing team work alongside the Acute Medical Team to asses, investigate and treat patients who present to the hospital’s Emergency Department. Within just a few hours of their arrival we are able to give them the same service that they might otherwise receive during a one or two day hospital admission. This has huge benefits for both the patient and our hospitals’ inpatient/emergency services.
The senior team here will ensure a supportive and proactive working environment with robust training and education which will facilitate your career development and progression whilst also building on your current achievements.
The successful applicant must:
• Have well developed communication skills and time management.
• Have effective organisational abilities.
• Be a first level Registered Adult Nurse
• Desirably have experience in an acute setting.
In May 2020, King’s Mill Hospital, where 90% of our services are based, was rated Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission and is the only Outstanding hospital in the East Midlands. Newark Hospital and Mansfield Community Hospital are both rated Good and all 15 of our services are rated Good for Safety with five Outstanding services.
Safe, patient centred care is delivered by well supported people and in 2018 and 2019 colleagues at Sherwood rated us the best Acute Trust in the Midlands. In 2019, in the Freedom to Speak Up Index, we were the top rated Acute Trust in the East Midlands.
