We are looking for an experienced Land Surveyor to join our existing Rail department working for UKDN Waterflow also part of the Lanes Group plc.  

Job Purpose Statement
Undertake all necessary topographic surveys to assist in preparation of designs in accordance with Network Rail standards.
To assist in ensuring compliance with design during the construction of works on site and undertake reporting functions in-line with established processes.
Liaise with project management team to understand and agree the project requirements. To plan and deliver all work on the scheme, ensuring it is completed on time and to the agreed standard. Working with an experienced team across the construction project in rail and other sectors.
Also undertake Setting Out works, Track Monitoring, preparation of As Built drawings in accordance with Network Rail CAD Standards
RESPONSIBILITIES
 
GENERAL:

To represent the company in the delivery of project or part of a large scheme. To receive instruction on behalf of the company and to issue instruction and provide direction in order to ensure the successful delivery of project assigned by Senior Management.
Ensure all Topo/Land Surveys and all other activities are undertaken in accordance with Good Industry Practice and requirements of Network Rail Standards
Prepare CAD Drawings of relevant survey and other details in accordance with Network Rail Standards.
Ensure deliverables are prepared and issued in a timely manner to ensure no impact on design and/or delivery programme
Mentoring and development of Junior/Assistant Surveyors. Supervising and instructing survey staff to ensure quality, timely and safe work practices
Ensuring safe execution of work at all times Enforcing the instructed methods of surveying and monitoring as defined in the Work Package Plan and all other relevant safety documentation, practices and procedures.
Produce daily reports of results and changes in readings for project. Ensure and Sub Contract staff are suitably trained and experienced before utilising their services and ensure that all relevant processes and procedures are fully explained prior to works being undertaken
Ensure proper protective equipment is provided, maintained and used. Report all accidents and incidents to the appointed health & safety manager, carry out investigations.
Ensure all project requirements/objectives are agreed with the PM/CEM ahead of survey works being undertaken.
Assist senior management in building and maintaining good relationships with clients and all external parties.
Act in a professional manner, appropriate to a representative of the company and promote similar behaviour from each member of your team.
Provide regular formal progress updates to the Senior Project Manager/ Project Manager/Design Team as agreed.
Ensure compliance with the UKDN Waterflow Management System, quality and environmental plans.
PRE CONSTRUCTION:

Undertake Track Monitoring where necessary in accordance with the Track Monitoring Plan and Network Rail Standards

Manage the production of as built information, records and dates on drawings and in diaries.

Ensure project close out requirements are carried out.
CONSTRUCTION:

Assist the Team in delivering the works safely

Carry out all relevant setting out duties to assist in delivery of works

Undertake Track Monitoring where necessary in accordance with the Track Monitoring Plan and Network Rail Standards

Assist with any necessary audits
POST CONSTRUCTION:

Undertake Track Monitoring where necessary in accordance with the Track Monitoring Plan and Network Rail Standards 

Manage the production of as built information, records and dates on drawings and in diaries.

Ensure project close out requirements are carried out. 
Required Qualifications/Experience
Academic

The post holder will be educated to degree or higher level or equivalent in a numerate discipline, typically Geomatics, Hydrography or Related Engineering discipline or Equivalent Military discipline. However, a lower educational level, typically HNC or HND may be acceptable where a very significant level of experience in a senior technical engineering role can be demonstrated

Experience

Strong organisational skills Knowledge of the requirements and implementation of Network Rail Surveying & CAD Standards
Adhere to Work Package Plans, Task Briefing Sheets, and implement safe systems of work
Detailed knowledge of Safety, Quality and Environmental issues relevant to the project environment
Sufficient experience required in construction. Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines Demonstrate a meticulous and highly accurate approach to work
