Summary


Apprentice Orthotic Technician, Orthotics Department

The Orthotics department at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre is seeking an organised technically astute individual for the role of an Apprentice Orthotic Technician within the production team.

The post holder will complete the Prosthetic and orthotic technician (level 3) learning all aspect of the role with both theoretical and practical work.

The role comprises of the fabrication of a wide range of bespoke medical devices ‘Orthoses’. Relevant experience within in a similar environment would be desirable.

The Orthotic department has a large clinical and workshop facility in a purpose built facility which uses a variety of manufacturing techniques including some CNC technology where we manufacture or process 11,000 items per year. A core function to the service is the integrated working practices between skilled technicians and orthotists in delivering outcomes within compassionate excellence to our service users. The department is well respected in the profession for its orthotic service delivery.

The post holder will be able to demonstrate articulate hand skills with an attention to detail while working under pressure to meet the departments fixed lead times.

The post holder will be working as part of an established multi-skilled production team and will be expected to work within any area of the department as required.

The Orthotic service provides the assessment and provision of equipment and on-going care for individuals requiring external bracing supports. This is a key role within the Production department and would suit a technically efficient person with good hand, machine and manufacturing skills. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively within a multi-disciplinary team working closely with technical clinical and administrative staff alike.
