(Band 8a) EHRS Senior Designer/Analyst – Pharmacy, Cancer & Research

An opportunity to join the UCLH EHRS Pharmacy, Cancer and Research team has arisen. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic healthcare professional with a keen interest in digital healthcare, ideally with experience in the management of medicines, chemotherapy and research protocols. The successful candidate will join an experienced and diverse team of analysts who support UCLH’s digital infrastructure.

The EHR team seek to improve patient care and staff experience through the effective use of our digital solution, Epic. We work closely with clinical, administrative and managerial staff; we analyse their processes and help them agree clinical best practice standards and workflows. The team modify Epic to reflect and support these working practices. We test changes to ensure that they fulfil organisation requirements, are safe, and work as expected. We provide support to end-users using our specialist application knowledge through regular meetings and through incident investigation and resolution. We have excellent relationships with departmental leads, super-users and subject matter experts who help prioritise our workstreams. We have a rolling upgrade programme which delivers new features and functionality to ensure the system is up-to-date.

We strive to provide tools to our staff to enable them to deliver excellent patient- centred care, be more productive, work safely, better manage services and conduct research. The NHS is currently experiencing a revolution in which digital technology is being used to improve delivery of care. UCLH requires innovative and creative individuals to support these changes within the EHR team.

The successful candidate will enter a period of training which requires them to obtain certification in the Epic Willow Inpatient and Beacon modules. After certification you must demonstrate an understanding of EHR system governance and participate in the EHR Pharmacy, Cancer and Research team’s activities to support the organisation. Your competency will be assessed against a range of predefined criteria which will be reviewed at regular intervals. You must demonstrate you are competent to cancer and non-cancer clinical trials, chemotherapy protocols and medications. Training and assessment typically takes 9-12 months and culminates in a competency assessment and interview – successful completion will allow you to progress to band 8a. If you were in band 8a prior to taking this role you will re-enter band 8a at the appropriate point taking into consideration your previous pay.

This post is subject to a 6 month probation period, during which time you must complete certification in Willow Inpatient and Beacon. This is a mandatory requirement of the probation period and failure to gain certification during this time will mean that you do not pass your probation.

Please note: This post will go throughEpic Sphinx Assessment.Successfully shortlistedapplicants, without an Epic certification will be required to undertake the Epic aptitude assessment (the Sphinx test) prior to interview. If already Epic certified (must provide evidence of certification).
