Following permanent vacancies within the Emergency Department senior medical staff we are delighted to offer a substantive Speciality Doctor post and an additional Specialty Doctor post for 1 year. Both to commence in August 2021. You will have an excellent opportunity to join a very vibrant and innovative department. You need to be a highly motivated and confident individual with excellent communication and team working skills. We are keen to promote progressive emergency medicine and you will play an important role in continuing in delivering and achieving our national targets.

The post will join a fully complemented team of 11 (10.5 WTE) Consultants , 2 Associate Specialists, 28 junior doctors comprising Emergency Medicine trainees ST3-ST7, Specialty Doctors, Trust Doctors, Sports Medicine Fellows, GPVTS, ACCS trainees (CT1), FY2, F1. The department is also supported by non medical clinicians: 1 Physician Associate, 8 Adult Majors Nurse Practitioners and 1 Paediatric Majors Nurse Practitioner.

Competency assessments will be made and portfolio development is encouraged to aid future career progression. Secondments in other specialities can be facilitated.

Currently there are consultants with diverse interests in the directorate: paediatric emergency medicine, medical education, simulation, major incident planning, point of care ultrasound. There are two sports and exercise medicine consultants who have links with many local amateur and professional sports clubs.

Applications must be 5 year post registration and must have GMC registration and undertake an Enhanced CRB disclosure check on appointment.
