Consultant Paediatrician and Designated Doctor for Child Safeguarding

We are looking for a dynamic consultant paediatrician with at least two years consultant experience and substantial experience in child safeguarding to join our department as an acute general paediatrician and the Designated Doctor for Child Safeguarding for Kingston CCG.
This post is integral to the acute paediatric service and additionally to the CCG as the designated doctor.
You will be central to the Trust Safeguarding Children team, working closely with the named nurse and doctor and the wider Kingston and Richmond Safeguarding Children partnership. This aspect of the post attracts 4.5 PA of the total and is flexibly arranged around SPA sessions to provide adaptability and responsiveness to this important role.
The remaining 5.5PA is as an acute paediatric consultant participating in the attending system of care as ‘consultant of the week’ for the paediatric inpatient ward. This includes weekends attending and on call. Applicants should have skills allowing them to provide consultant support to a level 2 NNU at weekends. You will also provide general paediatric outpatient clinics.
You will be part of a team committed to providing care in line with the London Quality Standards. There is no resident night shift commitment. There is a night on call commitment which is pro rata and shared with the other consultants on the acute paediatric attending rota, amounting to approximately 1 in 14 on call nights.

This position is for 10 PAs per week. You will need to be in possession of a CCT in Paediatrics (or equivalent). This post is not suitable for applicants who have not yet obtained their CCT.
