Senior Care Assistant - 2 positions available
Full time hours, Night shift
£9.97-£10.60 per hour plus excellent enhancements

8.00 pm to 6.00 am (nights) 30%
Friday midnight to Sunday midnight (weekends) 45%
Public Holidays 24 hours midnight to midnight 60%

We have an exciting new opportunity at Sue Ryder, Stagenhoe, for a Senior Care Assistant to coordinate the provision of high quality holistic person centred care and support to individuals accessing Sue Ryder services. Stagenhoe is a Sue Ryder specialist neurological care centre based in Hertfordshire, caring for people aged 18 and over a range of neurological conditions. At Stagenhoe, we provide the care people need to optimise their health and wellbeing, maximise their independence and support their emotional and social needs.

•To provide direct supervision, coaching and mentoring to junior staff
•To work within the Health and Social Care Team. Responsible for the line management of an identified group of care assistants/junior staff
•To promote choice in the delivery of care and support. Reviewing and making suggestions to enhance the individuals’ experience. Enabling concerns and complaints to be raised freely by the individual and/or their representatives
•To participate openly and honestly in any investigation if care falls below expected standards
•To take instruction from line management with regarding communicating with service users and their representatives following an incident
•To ensure accurate reporting and documentation
•To participate in care planning implementation and review as a key worker
•To promote the values, build morale and encourage others to perform to high standards
•To carry out designated clinical tasks

The successful Senior Care Assistant will have:
•S/NVQ/QCF Level 3 or equivalent
•Numeracy and literacy
•Computer Literacy - To have a functional knowledge of word processing, use of e-mail and internet to enable effective use of the Sue Ryder information technology systems (for example Datix on line incident reporting system, Sue Ryder e-mail system)
•Good communication skills
•Experience of working within a team
•Demonstrable skills in leadership and supervision
•2 years relevant care work experience
•Audit awareness
•Coaching and mentoring experience and or qualifications
•Competencies that are specific to the speciality
