QE Facilities’ Decontamination Services based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Gateshead is seeking confident, self-motivated individuals to work/ train as Decontamination Technicians; successful applicants must poses excellent interpersonal and communication skills to join our busy team in providing a full range of decontamination services on a wide range of medical devices.
The role will incorporate rotational working across Sterile Services, Endoscopy Decontamination, Sterile Services Department logistics & Stores and the Medical Equipment Library.
You must be able to demonstrate a flexible and adaptable approach to working to cover holidays and sickness at short notice. The position is shift based including day, evening, night, weekend, and bank holiday rotas.
The role is physically demanding and involves input into all stages of the decontamination cycle, ensuring comprehensive records of all tasks are maintained for tracking & traceability purposes; this will necessitate the operation of specific computer and database applications; therefore IT literacy is required including knowledge of IT applications such as Word, Excel & Outlook.
Within this role you will come into contact with contaminated devices i.e. blood body tissue etc.
