Cluster Academic GP Fellow – Cwmtawe Cluster Network

This is an exciting opportunity for a newly qualified GP to expand their academic and clinical portfolio as a Cluster Academic GP Fellow. This fixed term 12 – 24 month full time post will be based between a designated Cluster Network within Swansea Bay University Health Board (SBUHB) and Swansea University Medical School (SUMS). The post holder will complete their working week as a 60/40 split between clinical commitments within a designated GP practice and academic commitments associated with the wider Cluster Network and SUMS.
Swansea Bay University Health Boardprovides tertiary, acute, intermediate, mental health, learning disabilities, community, and primary care services across Swansea, Neath and Port Talbot localities within South West Wales. As a University Health Board, we work in partnership with Swansea University and other Welsh universities with a strong research, development, and training agenda. The post of Cluster Academic GP Fellow will sit within the Primary and Community Services Delivery Unit, with professional line management aligned to the Unit Medical Director.
Cwmtawe Cluster Networkis situated in the Swansea locality within SBUHB. It is made up of 3 main GP practices operating across several sites. This transformative cluster network is underpinned by multi-professional learning and multi-agency collaboration to provide innovative and effective patient centred care for their entire patient population. The Cluster Academic GP Fellow will work as a salaried GP within the Cluster practices for the clinical commitment associated with this fixed term post. Mentorship and daily line management will be provided by the Cluster Lead GP. You will experience a varied and interesting caseload, expanding over a wide range of patients from many different socio-economic backgrounds; who live in a mix of urban and semi-rural areas. The post holder will be a valued member of the Cluster team and will act to contribute to quality patient centred care through evidenced based practice and multi professional learning. The GP Fellow will facilitate training and development sessions within the cluster for multi professional students, ensuring academic pathways align with both individual learning and service needs.

The GP Fellow will be aligned to SUMS for the academic commitment of this post, working alongside experienced medical lecturers and dedicated academic leaders to achieve excellence in inter-professional education and learning. The GP Fellow will be encouraged to complete a fully funded academic qualification through SUMS during the course of this fixed term post to ensure alignment of their theoretical and practical development.

Applicants must be fully registered with the GMC and hold a License to Practice. You must also be on the GMC GP Register and have gained entry on the Welsh GP Performers List before taking up post.
