Summary


Mount Vernon Cancer Centre (MVCC) is one of Europe’s leading and largest cancer treatment centres. Clinical radiotherapy equipment comprises of six linear accelerators including fourTruebeam units with image guidance technology and volumetric arc therapy (RapidArc) capabilities. All treatments are delivered using image guided radiotherapy (IGRT) and treatments such as intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) and RapidArc are standard for most patients.

In addition the centre houses the UK’s first NHS based Cyberknife machine providing a comprehensive stereotactic ablative radiotherapy (SABR) programme. A High Dose Rate (HDR) brachytherapy suite is also situated at the cancer centre with a dedicated open bore magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner. The pre-treatment suite consists of integrated computed tomography (CT) imaging (SOMATOM Sensation open / Toshiba Aquilion) and virtual simulation systems.

The Radiotherapy department is operational 7 days a week including bank holidays. External beam radiotherapy is routinely delivered between 8am-9pm Monday - Friday.

The centre serves a catchment population of 1.7 million and is located in Northwood, the leafy London suburb on the Middlesex / Hertfordshire border between Central London and the Chilterns. It is just under 30 minutes away from the West End of London on the Metropolitan Line (part of the London Underground railway network), only 15 miles by car and just under 20 minutes away from the Chilterns and the Chiltern Hills.

In addition, you will receive a High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of your basic salary, subject to a minimum payment of £3,722 and a maximum payment of £4,743 per annum pro rata.
