The University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust is a forward thinking organisation with a genuine culture of partnership working, innovation and quality improvement. The Trust is committed to developing novel ways of delivering high quality healthcare to the population of South Cumbria and North Lancashire through the ‘Better Care Together’ strategy.

An exciting career opportunity has arisen for an Advanced Biomedical Scientist to join the dedicated Biochemistry team at Furness General Hospital to provide an essential clinical service to support healthcare provision across South Cumbria.

The department works closely with local universities and is dedicated to supporting staff development and also training the next generation through our Biomedical Scientist trainee programme. The successful candidate will be a key member of the team supervising and delivering this training programme.

You will be part of a small supervisory team responsible for ensuring the delivery of high quality Biochemistry services. You must be a dedicated team player, willing to support our staff, and to promote our Trust behavioural standards and ethos.

You will be expected to actively contribute to the continual improvement of the service and to have a thorough understanding of total quality management in order to ensure that the service continues to meet the requirements of ISO 15189.

The South Cumbria location allows easy access to the Lake District National Park, the Yorkshire Dales and Morecambe Bay, each offering extensive recreational opportunities. The area also benefits from some excellent schools and colleges.

Generous assistance with removal and other associated expenses will be granted, in line with Trust policy, to successful candidates who need to move their home to take up employment with the Trust.

You must be currently registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

You will be contracted to work 37.5 hours per week from 08:50 to 17:20, Monday to Friday.

Anyone newly appointed to the Trust will be subject to the completion of a satisfactory 6 month probationary period (this includes bank staff). This will give the new staff member an opportunity to become familiar with the role and working environment
