We are currently seeking an experienced Research Associate to join Dr Ankur Mutreja's group in the Department of Medicine, University of Cambridge. This role will be based within the Cambridge Institute of Therapeutic Immunology and Infectious Disease (CITIID) in the recently opened Jeffrey Cheah Biomedical Centre, located on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus.

The successful candidate will be funded by a Wellcome Innovator award for developing genomics based molecular cholera diagnostic kit. This project is translational in nature and uses the available and newly generated genomic data to screen for biomarkers, test and optimise them to proof of concept followed by market readiness in collaboration with multiple partners internationally. The post-holder will continue to further optimise our tested platform of portable molecular detection of pathogens and ensure its applicability at ground level. The candidate must be prepared to travel once or twice a year to project sites in Malawi and/or India for four to six weeks at a time.

The successful candidate will have a PhD in a relevant discipline and a strong background in molecular biology, especially diagnostics. They will be highly motivated and able to work independently. In addition, they will have excellent organisational and interpersonal skills and be able to work within a diverse research team.
