The Child and Young People’s Mental Health team within NHS England and Improvement is delivering an exciting and highly complex cross-organisational strategy to transform mental health services for children and young people. The team has been making rapid progress in delivering the ambitions set out in Future in Mind endorsed by the Five Year Forward View for Mental Health (FYFVMH) and 2018 Government response to Transforming children and young people’s mental health provision: a green paper. It is now focussed on supporting the delivery of mental health services for children and young people during the Covid pandemic and delivering the ambitions set out inNHS Long Term Plan.
This role is an exciting opportunity for a senior leader to shape and lead the next steps of the implementation of the Children and Young People’s programme working as one of two Deputy Heads working across the Perinatal and Children and Young People’s Mental Health Programmes. This role will lead on expanding access to Children and Young People’s community mental health services, mental health crisis services, and eating disorder services working closely with the Deputy Head for the Mental Health Support Teams and Perinatal Services with matrix working across the two teams, including on cross-cutting issues such as equalities, participation, data, outcomes and workforce.
The post holder will manage the interface with a range of internal teams and partner organisations, including the Department of Health and Social Care, other ALBs, regional and local NHS leaders, and the voluntary and community sector. They will be responsible in engaging and influencing senior external stakeholders, including ministers, and represent NHS England and Improvement and the wider Mental Health programme with confidence.
We are looking for an exceptional candidate with demonstrated ability to develop and implement a highly complex programme of work across a wide range of stakeholders. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience, ideally in a healthcare setting, of supporting strategic decision making, delivering successful programmes, planning and leading complex transformation work, leading complex financial and activity modelling work, and the ability to influence work to happen across a range of different organisations.
