We are currently looking for someone to join our Clinical Neuropsychology Service for Stroke. This post is commissioned to meet the psychological needs of adult (18+) stroke survivors and their families within the Ashford and Tenterden locality.
The post is primarily community based, working closely with colleagues in the local Intermediate Care teams and one day a week working as part of the MDT at the inpatient Stroke Unit at William Harvey Hospital in Ashford.
The base for the post is at West View Integrated Care Centre within the picturesque town of Tenterden. Alternatively, a base on the St Martin’s Hospital site at Canterbury may also be an option.
As one of the largest Neuropsychology departments in the country with over 20 clinical psychology posts, we have benefitted from substantial funding in recent years. The Kent Clinical Neuropsychology Service provides neuropsychological rehabilitation and assessment within a variety of inpatient and community settings throughout the county.
Clinical Psychologists/Neuropsychologists work closely with multidisciplinary colleagues across the whole care pathway, providing services to adults with long-term neurological conditions, acquired brain injury, stroke, and neuropsychiatric conditions.
The service has a strong rehabilitation ethos and members of the service have interests in a range of different therapeutic approaches including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, mindfulness, CBT and systemic approaches.
All of our posts provide opportunities for continuing professional development, project working and peer support. We have close and supportive links with the Salomons Clinical Psychology training programme, one of the largest and most established in the UK. Many of us are actively involved in teaching and research.
Members of the service receive regular clinical and management supervision and there is a commitment to ongoing training and professional development. In many cases, we have supported people to work in other parts of the service to help them to extend their experience.
While this post is currently being advertised as part-time there may be funding for additional sessional work in the future.
The post would best suit a person with some Neuropsychology experience, however if you have recently qualified and have an interest in Neuropsychology or pre-qualification experience working in Neuropsychology you are also warmly invited to apply.
