Summary

We are looking for an outstanding psychiatrist to complete our team on the Glenbourne Unit. As one of two Psychiatrists in the unit, you will really become a pivotal member of the Medical Team exclusively leading medical decisions on the female only ward. It is essential that you are able to deliver sound medical advice with ease and have the ability to confidently provide robust clinical leadership regarding service provision and development. The Glenbourne Unit has a track record of being trendsetters when it comes to Quality Improvement and are continuously looking to improve working processes for the patients and staff members by running a number of improvement initiatives across the unit, a contributing factor to the unit being rated as outstanding by CQC.

As a forward thinking clinician, you will effortlessly supervise any foundation, GP and psychiatry trainees assigned to the department (you will receive protected time to do this). You will offer and advise on comprehensive psychiatric assessments and admissions, safely considering appropriate alternatives to hospital admission where necessary.

Employing only 25 senior psychiatrists, LSW has a unique ability to provide doctors with job plans that are exclusively tailored to suit. Opportunities to be involved in research, appraisals, audit and teaching are just a few. You will have an active awareness in LSW management, sharing advice and contributing to senior meetings as appropriate. With a robust Clinical Leadership Management structure, doctors are supported and encouraged to apply for roles to enhance their growth, be it as an Education or Clinical Supervisor or a member of the Medical Management Team. LSW believe in their doctors and their ability to contribute to the development of the organisation as a whole. We also fully support our doctors to stay connected to what interests them, even outside of their field of specialty, to ensure a career that stays exciting and engaged.

Doctors are provided with a generous study leave allowance of 33 days over three years. We also encourage participation in the Out of Hours on Call Rota (currently 1 in 14) with appropriate compensatory rest provision. Inclusion in the teaching of trainee doctors is expected and you will receive access to our weekly teaching programme and regular peer group and reflective practice.

Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice is required, as is entry on the Specialist register.
