We are recruiting for a SENIOR PROCESS ENGINEER - this role is full time with an initial contract duration of 12 months and an ideal start date of 1st June 2020.

Successful candidate will be working within a team of 5, supporting the sale-up of eLNO cathode technology for a multinational corporation based in Royston, North Hertfordshire.

Although this role will be completed from home initially, once safe it will be involve 75% being site based and up to 25% travel (within Europe)

Successful candidate will be responsible for leading Process design and equipment selection and be capable of working collaboratively with technical specialists and contractors to facilitate successful delivery.


  • Responsibility for overall equipment and process design for the project
  • Ensuring all relevant specification documents are prepared in adherence to Capex Projects procedures and agreed with the client
  • Ensuring full compliance with all EHS policies and procedures
  • Technical knowledge:
    • Ensuring the correct level of input and technical review applied to coordinated design
    • Ensuring up to date technical knowledge; maintaining collaborative relationships with technical experts within relevant engineering fields
  • Ensure all relevant specification documents are prepared in adherence to international standards/codes of practice
  • Development and inform Capital Expenditure requests as required
  • Maintaining open and constructive communications with the business, the client and all parties relevant to the project
  • Ensuring completion and handover of the project to the client's satisfaction as well as conducting post project reviews to identify areas for improvement
  • Timely reporting of project progress and identification of issues which may affect schedule, budget or quality with additional reporting requirements managed appropriately
  • Providing project leadership and support for project team members
  • Management of engineering contractors as well as coordinating and managing the work of external consultants and designers as required by the project
  • Lead process related dialogue with external parties including equipment vendors
  • Ensure all projects are carried out in accordance with company standards and local regulations
  • Monitor contractor Health & Safety performance and make improvements as necessary
  • Ensure HAZOP's and other relevant Health & Safety risk assessments are carried out as required and all actions closed in a timely manner
  • Ensure Sustainability is considered during the equipment and process design and preparation of Capital Expenditure proposals
  • Develop understanding of industrial best practice for energy and waste reduction
  • Ensure testing is completed in line with the required standards
  • Support the development of the commissioning plan for the facility
  • Assist with troubleshooting during commissioning and start-up


  • 5+ years' experience as a Process Engineer on Projects
  • Minimum Bachelor degree in Chemical/Process Engineering
  • Experience in a scale up of similar powder-processing technologies
  • HAZOPs and Process Safety experience
  • Highly advantageous to have experience with the following:
    • moisture-sensitive powders
    • Ni-based chemistry
  • Delivery focused, able to achieve business critical timescales and work under pressure
  • Experience managing large and complex engineering projects
