Summary

CROYDON HEALTH SERVICES

ACUTE FRAILTY FELLOW

Salary Range: £31,217 - £49,086 pa (dependant on experience) exclusive of any allowances

Applications are invited for a acute frailty fellow post (post MRCP and above) to work on the innovative Acute Elderly Care Unit (ACE Unit) at Croydon University Hospital. This post would commence on in August for a one year fixed term post.

The successful applicant would join the department on the ACE unit. This is a 14 bedded unit specializing in acute frailty care. They would be supported by 5 days a week consultant presence and a rich multi-disciplinary team. This unit was an early adopter of ‘front door frailty’ and deals with complex patients with an ethos of providing a thorough and person centered comprehensive geriatric assessment rapidly, reducing unnecessary time in hospital and reducing harm that accompanies admission.

In additional we are excited to include an element of extra clinical activity in this role. Successful candidates would be asked to consider an area of interest that they would want to spend a proportion of their time developing. This could be education, quality improvement or other aspects that are agreed with their supervising consultant. We envisage the doctor using this allocated time to develop new educational experiences for other staff members, leading important quality improvement work or improving systems in other areas of interest all with senior support from the department.

The Elderly Care Department at Croydon offers a friendly and supportive environment in which to work alongside excellent opportunities for training and development. The trust has the benefit of being fully integrated providing an outstanding insight in to community services and a whole system approach to frailty.

This role provides a fantastic opportunity to develop ones CV in both acute frailty as well as extracurricular areas of interest.

All candidates should be eligible for registration with the GMC. MRCP or equivalent is essential.
