Job Title: Fitness Trainer
Accountable to: Sure / Parks Options Management Team
Hours: 37.5 per week
(including evenings and weekends)
Site: Jubilee Sports Bank & Jubilee Park
Responsible for: Assisting with the running of the Sports
Centre & Jubilee Park
Main working contacts: Service Users, Sure /
Parks Options Core Team

Main Purpose of Post: To assist in the efficient operation of a leisure centre and associated outdoor facilities.

Main Responsibilities:

1. To provide customers with a polite, friendly, exciting and efficient leisure service giving due attention to customer care at all times.

2. To ensure that the facilities are secure, safe and properly maintained for public use at all times.

3. To keep the centre, grounds and park area clean and tidy to standards the customer deserves.

4. To collect and check all admissions and update necessary systems.

5. To set up and remove equipment to suit the centres programme of activities.

6. To undertake gym inductions in line with training and Health & Safety guidelines.

7. To monitor the gym and weights room throughout the day ensuring service users are supported and complying with Health & Safety, whilst providing excellent customer service.

8. To deliver classes within the sports centre and other facilities owned and managed by Parks/Sure Options.

9. To set fitness programmes for service users as and when required in line with appropriate levels of training.

10. To deliver personal training sessions with service users as and when required in line with appropriate levels of training.

11. To assist in achieving targets set for the sports centre team.

12. To be able to apply first aid techniques where and when necessary.

13. Comply with all health and safety regulations and be familiar with all-operational systems and procedures including emergency evacuation.

14. To monitor, clean and fill vending machines where required.

15. To ensure that the external path way areas are clean and tidy, and the football areas are ready for use.

16. To operate computerised booking system and any other computerised equipment where necessary.

17. To receive payments for admissions/bookings and issue receipts as necessary.

18. Link in with the finance department to ensure that payments are up to date.

19. To carry out site checks and report any damage or vandalism to a senior member of staff.

20. Deliver leaflets or promotional literature as required, while promoting the centres products and activities.

21. Support with other marketing tasks including involvement with social media and website developments etc.

22. Attend any training courses that are deemed necessary.

23. Wear appropriate work wear as stipulated by the management team.

24. To communicate with the public and user groups, and deal with enquiries and complaints in a professional manner as directed by the Management team.

25. Consistently and actively apply good housekeeping principles such as turning off lights and equipment when not in use and any other appropriate activities that contribute to carbon reduction.

26. To develop the Sure Options commitment to equal opportunities and to promote non- discriminatory practices in all aspects of work undertaken.

27. To carry out, as necessary, any other duty deemed to be commensurate with the grade and status of the post and skills and experience of the post holder.
