Summary

Eastbourne District General Hospital Acute Medical Unit
Matron

Band 7, 37.5 hours per week

Salary: £37,570 - £43,772 per annum

SECONDMENT or FIXED TERM CONTRACT UPTO 12 MONTHS



The Acute Medical Unit is a diagnostic and emergency treatment unit in acute medicine with a varied workload. You will need to provide strong leadership, possess excellent communication skills and be able to develop and support staff with clinical and professional expertise. You will also be expected to function effectively under pressure without compromising standards of care and professionalism.



We currently assess/triage and admit patients with Medical Conditions from a variety of sources – including GPs, the Emergency Department and Outpatients Clinics.We ensure all emergency patients receive seamless, high quality care at the point of assessment.

You must also have advanced clinical knowledge and skills, be willing to participate in research and audit projects and will also be expected to work with a certain amount of autonomy. In return you will be offered excellent managerial support and commitment to both your personal and professional development.



You must be a 1stlevel Registered Nurse with significant experience at Band 6 Sister /Charge Nurse level. Ideally you will be educated to a degree level or be working towards a degree. The ENB 998/mentorship level 3 is essential as is an awareness of the current professional, research and practice issues and an understanding of modern human resource management.
