Consultant Psychiatrist in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

CAMHS Clinic, Peace Childrens Centre, Watford

HPFT is at the forefront of providing integrated health and social care. The Trust is one of only a handful of mental health trusts in the country to receive a CQC rating of 'OUTSTANDING'.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join the HPFT CAMHS Watford team. The team provide outstanding care to young people throughout Hertfordshire.

The post holder is expected to provide diagnosis, management and consultation for complex mental health presentations to the multidisciplinary team. There is an expectation to provide clinical leadership and be available for safeguarding discussions/decisions. The clinical work in the job plan, involves face-to-face meetings with the families/young people referred to the consultant post holder.

The CAMHS national benchmarking exercise revealed that Hertfordshire CAMHS performed very positively. CAMHS was also recently successful in bidding for funds for a new child and adolescent 136 suit as well as being chosen for a new care modelled site.

The post offers excellent opportunities to develop an area of special responsibility/interest, which can be negotiated depending on candidate’s experience and interest, as well as on service development and needs.

HPFT have close links with the University of Hertfordshire and there are opportunities for CPD. The Trust has a very positive and enabling attitude with Consultants and their career development and within CAMHS there are opportunities to pursue research interests.
