Job Description:

Working within the Fire & Security Systems Business, you will have the Overall responsibility for two geographically disparate teams of Systems Designers and CAD Operators. Taking senior responsibility for the production of technical designs, quotations and drawings for the supply/installation/commissioning/maintenance of fire & security systems in the Corporate, End User and Mechanical and Electrical sectors throughout the UK. You will have two direct team leader reports as well as 12-14 indirect reports.

Your Key Responsibilities will be:

  • Managing the overall workload of both Fire & Security design teams. ensuring the correct prioritisation and a timely response to all enquiries

  • Ensuring all quotations issued are accurately costed

  • Ensuring all proposals & designs issued are technically correct.

  • Ensuring all drawings issued are technically correct

  • Provide senior design support to Sales and Operations in the field when necessary

  • Running large design projects as and when required, including the coordination and resourcing using contract labour

  • To provide leadership, guidance and support to all staff within the team

  • Lead, motivate, communicate with, develop, appraise and performance manage staff to ensure staff are fully motivated to achieve best performance to meet the company’s needs.

About you

  • You will have several years experience in the Fire/Security industry

  • Experience of managing teams and/or overseeing large projects

  • Technical knowledge including: CDM regulations, installing electronic fire and / or security systems, IP based systems, AutoCAD and MS project

  • Excellent communicator with the ability to communicate verbally or in the written word to a variety of audiences including technical and non-technical people, adjusting the approach for the audience.

  • A natural leader able to drive a team and manage in a variety of styles to derive the best performance from all team members

  • Strong numerical, commercial and analytical skills
