The Wiltshire Autism Diagnostic Service is a small friendly team dedicated to working with adults potentially with an Autism Spectrum Condition who currently have a Wiltshire GP. The service is set up to deliver comprehensive assessment and diagnosis and some post diagnostic support. The service consists of a mixture of disciplines including Nursing and Occupational Therapy. Assessments are offered in a variety of venues across Wiltshire and an ability to be able to access/travel to these venues would be necessary.

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic person to join an proactive team working with adults with a potential autism spectrum conditions (ASC) in Wiltshire. The primary focus of the post will be around the diagnosis and management of adults with ASC, and the post-holder will be expected to make a significant contribution to the development and implementation of a variety of novel, evidence-based assessments, optimised for use with this client group. Additionally, the successful candidate will become involved in the provision of a range of other services undertaken by the team, including: clinical audit, research and development, training and delivering post-diagnostic education and support to service users and other health/social care professionals. The post holder will be supervised in making their diagnostic assessment. This could be the opportunity for career progression within a clinical role, in this specialist team. As autism is prominent in all areas of health this post would offer the opportunity to learn new skills that would enhance practice in any health area.

Some experience/knowledge of working with adults with ASC is essential, as are good written and interpersonal communication skills. Supervision will be provided, and the post-holder will be able to access professional support from their Professional Lead within the Specialist Services
