Summary


INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AT HIGHGATE  
The School’s IT systems support teaching, learning and the management of the School within a modern and challenging environment. Our IT facilities provide support for the following:

The use of IT in the teaching of all subjects. The teaching of information and communications technology. School administration and leadership. The use of IT by teachers for lesson preparation, departmental administration etc.
Communication with parents.
Classrooms are equipped with leading-edge technology to support teaching and learning. The School is fully networked, providing high-speed internet connectivity to the whole community. The recent implementation of iPads for classroom use and by teachers has run parallel with the installation of a business-grade wifi network.

Major projects are under way to migrate the School’s back-end infrastructure to a ‘hyperconverged’ platform, using Nutanix hardware and software, and Microsoft’s Office 365 suite (including Sharepoint Online). Remote access portals for staff, students and parents are at the heart of Highgate’s IT provision.

THE ROLE
Highgate School is looking for a Sharepoint Designer with hands on experience of developing Sharepoint Online sites. The post-holder will design, develop and manage our School’s Sharepoint platforms, which are becoming ever more critical to the School’s smooth operation.
The Sharepoint Designer will work within the IT Infrastructure team and alongside the Web Services Manager on all aspects of the design, architecture, operations, administration, training and support of key SharePoint infrastructure and business solutions.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Quickly build an understanding of the existing IT infrastructure and business processes; build relationships with key stakeholders including the IT Infrastructure team, IT support team, Engine room and the Communications team.
Undertake a review of existing platforms, their content and integration (with, for example, the School Calendar, MySchool Portal).
Lead the implementation of a new Intranet for the School – ‘Highgate Hub’ - which will act as a School-wide collaboration and document management platform:

Audit the existing intranet content and conduct research to understand intranet user needs throughout the organisation, working alongside the Website and Platform co-ordinator in the Communications team.
Work closely with key stakeholders to understand their needs and involve them in planning and problem solving (including Communications, IT, HR, Compliance, as well as Senior Team and teaching and administrative staff)
Build the structure of the new Intranet and work with the Website and Platform co-ordinator to manage the content.
Set up administrative responsibilities for the main pages and sub-sites. Ensure that Highgate Hub reflects, supports and develops the organisational culture of Highgate School
Produce documentation, including system and user guides and manuals; lead training to users of all levels
Hand over the intranet to IT Department ‘business as usual’ for ongoing maintenance and administration

Provide a platform for the management of intranet home pages to maintain a proper balance of content and tools; lead the support of central content owners, assisting them in keeping their sections of the Hub up to date; provide a mechanism for the monitoring of site analytics and key performance indicators. Liaise with the IT Department and technology vendors on all aspects of implementation and upgrades.
Provide SharePoint site governance and best practice advice. Other duties as may be reasonably requested and which fall within the post-holder’s skillset.
