Part-time (or full-time) Locum Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry: Acute Inpatient Assessment service-Sapphire ward, Highgate Mental Health Centre.
Part-time 6 PA Post. However, we will flexibly adjust this to a Full-Time post for appointable applicants who prefer this (with the additional sessions used to provide additional supportive consultant input to another consultant led ward.)
Available initially for 6 months on a flexible fixed term contract to start ASAP thereafter. (Thereafter there may also be the possibility of 1-3 monthly extensions.)
Camden & Islington mental health and social care trust are seeking to appoint a bright and enthusiastic clinician to this Locum Consultant position based in Islington, North London. This post has become available following the incumbent Consultant moving to another post. It will be recruited for as a substantive post later on this year.
The post-holder will provide clinical leadership to a busy Inpatient Acute assessment ward service, providing acute Psychiatric hospital care for all patients admitted to Sapphire ward based at Highgate Mental Health Centre. The Hospital/Ward teams consist of well established, integrated and enthusiastic multidisciplinary teams.
The post is subject to the annual job-planning process as agreed under the new Consultant contract. Inner London weighting supplement applies. They will be fully supported by junior medical input (CT1-3, ST4-6 and FY2) and secretarial cover with the usual office/administration facilities. They will be supported in pursuing appropriate continuing professional development and will also be encouraged to apply for temporary honorary senior lecturer status with the medical school.
The Trust became a Foundation Trust in February 2008 and continues as a mental health/social care organisation. It has well established links with the United Royal Free and University College London medical schools and the North London Junior and Higher Psychiatric training schemes.
Islington is an exciting multicultural inner-city borough just on the edge of the City of London. There is a contiguous mix of relatively affluent and deprived areas.
Applicants are expected to have MRCPsych or equivalent, full GMC registration, current license to practise and either be on the specialist register or within the last 3 months of their final year of obtaining their CCT or equivalent at the point of starting the post in August 2019.
The post will be mainly based at the Highgate Mental Health Centre, Dartmouth Park Hill, London N19 5 NX.
